Back on the Blog

It’s been quite some time since I’ve had a blog, and I gotta say, it’s good to be back. Of course, good doesn’t mean easy but blogging is much more productive than say, scrolling instagram or binging netflix, so here I am, once again directing my efforts towards something that I hope will be of value while foregoing my vices. Win. Win.

What brings me back to the blog, you might ask. Well, as you can see, this blog just happens to be connected to a shiny new website showcasing some of my new meditation and yoga offerings. Both my students and I have been having a lot of fun with iRest yoga nidra which has also been gloriously insightful in my everyday life. And so, naturally I’ve decided to start offering iRest more widely.

The nice, or perhaps tedious, thing about iRest is that it doesn’t stop once the meditation practice is over. Nope. This is a practice that permeates all aspects of your life, from becoming aware of sensations, emotions and thoughts, to remembering your essential nature as you go about your day. Of course it only goes so far as the meditator takes it, and if one chooses for it to be solely an enlightening nap, so it will be. Yet iRest has the potential to be transformative if one is willing to commit to the practice. Even medium-level effort grants many boons. If I’ve piqued your curiosity, I encourage you to browse my website which goes into much greater detail of the protocol. For now, I’ll just say iRest has been great to me, and so part of this blog will be singing its virtues as well as relaying my discoveries which are a direct result of the practice.

But wait, there’s more! That’s not the whole story of why I’m here. If you know me, you may or may not know that I completed a psychotherapy diploma a few, ok 10, years back. It seems the universe had a few more lessons to deliver before I was ready to fully embark on the psychotherapist journey. And by a few, I mean like 20. Who am I kidding, more like 50+. But numbers aren’t important; thanks to this plethora of life learning and lessons over the past ten years, I now feel more ready than ever to begin guiding others using the same tools I’ve used to dig myself out of the trenches. Not only that, but I’m delighted by the modalities that have become available for healing trauma and for psychotherapeutic use (iRest included) over the last decade. It’s an exciting time to be in the field, and so I’ve decided to come off the sidelines and submit my application to become a Registered Counseling Therapist Candidate (RCT-C). The jury is still out on whether my application will be accepted but nevertheless, I feel strongly that this is my path so I will continue regardless of the obstacles.

Over time my website and blog will take on a more therapeutic tone and I also have plans to bring back some of my favorite posts from my previous blog, “In the Flow.” So if you’re still with me and interested in any of what I’ve just said (I promise iRest won’t be too tedious) please go ahead and subscribe to my mailing list, share this post, comment, and tell your friends. Understanding and healing our wounds, as opposed to our culture’s traditional practice of ignoring them, is the way forward. I’d love for you to join me in what I so presumptuously call, the psycho-spiritual revolution!
