About Me

Erin Lecky, MA

Taking healing into our own hands

After years of dredging up the past in psychotherapy, I came to know a whole lot more about myself but didn’t feel much better overall. I later discovered that we can’t talk or think our way into healing, but we can learn to make friends with uncomfortable sensations in our body through welcoming and accepting them. As they say, the issues are in the tissues. In order to work with emotions and past trauma and initiate healing, we must meet them where they began – in the body. Through deep spiritual work, I also came to know that we can open to a place within us that doesn’t need healing – a place where we are always whole, healthy and fulfilled.

My Background

As an undergraduate student of Psychology I often felt as if something were missing from the field. Not to dismiss the discoveries and boons that psychology has afforded us, for there are many. What I found lacking, however, was that there was little to no mention of our essential nature, that which exists beyond our ego. After graduating, and getting an enlightening taste of Buddhism while living in South Korea and Japan and traveling through the spiritual towns in India, I changed course. I delved into a Master’s degree in Transpersonal Psychology, which recognizes that our spiritual nature is a major aspect of being human. Finally, just over a year ago, I discovered iRest. If there were an experiential practice that best encapsulated my graduate degree, iRest would be it. Not only does it recognize our essential nature, but it takes us into it so we may come to a direct realization of who we truly are. After learning this life-altering practice, it only made sense to offer it to others.

My Approach & Philosophy

I believe in a whole person approach. The body and mind are inextricably connected and we can’t leave either out of the healing equation. In addition, I believe that accessing our Essential Nature is paramount not only to healing our trauma but also to our overall health. From here we are able to see there is far more right with us, than there is wrong with us.
